his 1957 Porsche 356A Cabriolet was produced on November 15, 1957, and initially delivered to Hamburg, Germany. It spent time in Venezuela and Italy prior to being exported to Belgium in 2015, where it was acquired by the current owner the following year and subsequently imported to the US. The car was repainted black and the interior reupholstered in red under prior ownership, and power is provided by a 1.6-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels, a rear luggage rack, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio. Service completed in June 2023 involved rebuilding the dual carburetors as well as replacing the fuel pump and cleaning the fuel tank. This 356A cabriolet is now offered on dealer consignment in North Carolina with refurbishment photos, import paperwork, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and transferrable New York State registration. The car was later purchase by its current owner and carefully transferred to it's new home in Dubai.
The Reutter-built bodywork left the factory in Aquamarine Blue (5707) and was previously finished in red prior to being stripped to bare metal and repainted black under previous ownership in Italy. Exterior details include a black soft top with a matching boot cover as well as dual side mirrors, a rear luggage rack with leather fasteners, polished side spears and rocker panel trim, and body-color bumpers with overriders and integrated exhaust outlets at the rear.
Chrome-finished 15 steel wheels are mounted with 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, and a full-size spare is stored in the front trunk compartment. Koni shocks are fitted at the rear, and braking is handled by four-wheel hydraulic drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats that have been re-trimmed in red leatherette and accompanied by a color-coordinated rear jump seat and door panels. Lap belts are fitted for the front occupants, and the squareweave carpets are covered with black rubber floor linings. The black-finished dashboard houses a Blaupunkt push-button radio and a passenger grab handle. A gold ASI plate is mounted on the right kick panel.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a horn ring and fronts green-letter VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 200-km/h speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 52k kilometers (~32k miles), approximately 500 kilometers of which were added under current ownership.
The 1.6-liter flat-four features dual downdraft carburetors that were overhauled in June 2023. Additional work performed at that time consisted of replacing the fuel pump and cleaning the fuel tank and lines. Upon reaching Dubai full electrical rework to restore everything back to the original 6v. This was done without a single compromise on original parts sourcing.
